Respawn animation

Respawning is a feature in Battle mode that allows players whose robots have been destroyed to continue playing after waiting for a timer to expire.

Overview[]

  • A player waiting to respawn will be put into Spectator Mode, allowing them to watch their teammates while waiting.
  • Some tips are shown in the bottom right corner while a player is waiting to respawn
  • When a player captures a tower, all players that are waiting to respawn on their team can bypass the respawn timer and spawn immediately.

Respawn Time[]

There are two mechanisms that determine how long you will need to wait to respawn:

bt = Battle Time, i.e. the time that has passed in the battle.

OL = Your Overclock Level (the higher your level, the longer your take to respawn when you die).

Respawn times are multiplied by 1 at the start of the battle and by 3 at the end of the battle (30 mins in). Respawn times are 5 seconds for OL 1 and 30 seconds for OL 13. So, if you are OL 13 and you are 30 mins into a battle your respawn time will be 90 seconds long. This does not include the respawn escelator or the AFK player boost.

Respawn times lengthen at the end of the battle to ensure there is a great enough windows for a team to attack enemy Towers and Reactors, preventing the game from dragging on unnecessarily long while adding strategy and timing. With players dying more quickly and taking longer to respawn at the ‘end game’ things get very dangerous and the end game always happens.

If anyone on your team is AFK, your whole teams respawn time is 10 seconds shorter for every AFK person.

Respawn escalator

The respawn escalator changes your respawn time depending on the number of fusion towers your team has captured. If you have more towers, your respawn time will be shorter. This is to make games have reasonable lengths, and tries to prevent stalemates. In the beggining of a game, the reduction is 1 second per tower. In the end, it can be as much as 10 seconds per tower.

Safe Zone / Defense Zone[]

The image shows the actual size of the Fusion Shield and a set of spawn locations inside the shield (known as Safe Zone points) and an area outside the Fusion Shield known as the Defence Zone. If there are no enemies inside your shield then you will spawn on a ‘Safe Zone point’. If there are enemies inside your Fusion Shield, you will spawn in the Defence Zone facing your base. This allows you to pick a strategic location to defend your base, or join teammates to do a quick counter attack (of a Fusion Tower perhaps).

Notes[]

  • Robots can sometimes respawn with their electroplates temporarily deactivated.
  • Rail Cannons are currently required to charge on respawn, forcing a long wait before any actions can be taken. This will be changed in the future.
  • When a bot respawns, an explosion-like ball of matter appears around the respawning bot.

Elective Respawn and Clock Cycle Denial[]

Players are able to elect to respawn at any time by pushing ESC, but the Respawn cooldown timer prevent this if you are being shot and taking damage, meaning you can only electively respawn if you haven’t taken damage for 10 seconds.

Elective Respawning to deny enemies from Overclocking by killing you, or to rush back to base in the early game, are acceptable strategies in the new meta. However, remember that you will not earn Clock Cycles whilst you are waiting to respawn.

Example Tactic: You notice an undefended Fusion Tower in the early game and start to destroy its Protonium, but you notice enemies are approaching. You Self-Destruct and respawn at your base before they get a shot on you choosing that the 10 second respawn time hit and loss of Clock Cycles were well worth the 20% you knocked off the health of the enemies Tower. This is even better if you can do it with their reactor.
