As of Robocraft's Beta release, Battle Arena has undergone several changes. The aim of the game is to destroy the enemy team's Protonium reactor by charging up your team's "Annihilator" with Protonium obtained from the Capture points located around the map. The Capture points work similarly to the ones found in Elimination mode but are smaller, take less time, and can only be halted by killing all enemies on the point, or by getting onto the point, yourself. There are three Capture points (Near, Mid and Far) If a team manages to capture all three points, the other team's Fusion shield will go down, allowing the team to attack the Protonium reactor and steal Protonium for their own reactor. If at any point the losing team captures a point, the Fusion shield will go back up, and any enemies inside will be unable to use weapons or modules, as well as begin to take damage until they are outside of the shield.

At 5 minute intervals, a Protonite Core will erupt from a central location in the map. It can only be attacked by the team with the least Protonium and if it is destroyed, the losing team will get the same amount of Protonium as the winning team (so if the winning team has 40% Protonium, and the losing team is at 7%, the losing team will gain 33% Protonium and now, also be at 40%). If, at any time during this, the losing team overtakes the winning team, the eruption is averted and the battle continues as normal. There are always 2 Protonium eruptions (one at 10 minutes, and one at 5 minutes).

The winning team is the team which charges up its Annihilator to 100%, or if time runs out, the team which is closest to 100% wins, instead. In the case of a draw, neither team wins and the battle ends.

There are currently seven game modes in Robocraft, with an eighth currently in development. These can be chosen via the Battle Menu:

  • edit: there are only four game modes currently after several updates.

Ranked Modes

League Arena

Battle mode (A.K.A. League Arena) is Robocraft stepping into its MOBA shoes, hence this is one of two game modes where respawning and overclocking are active. Several objectives are unique to this game mode, such as overclocking, and capturing fusion towers. A team wins when the enemy's protonium reactor is depleted. This is accomplished when all attached Protonium Crystals are destroyed. This is the only game mode where players can earn a ranked placement in the league system. Currently, games can last anywhere from 5 to 40+ minutes depending on the tier and skill level of the teams. However, the fusion shields that protect the protonium reactor are disabled after 30 minutes. Due to the greater number of mechanics at play, many more strategies are available and teamwork is even more prized.

Unranked Modes

Battle Arena 2.0

(Battle Arena is the same thing as League Arena, but does not affect you league rank.)

Battle Arena

(Battle Arena is the same thing as League Arena, but does not affect you league rank.)

Battle mode (A.K.A. League Arena, now merged into a single "Normal Mode" or "Battle Arena 2.0") is Robocraft stepping into its MOBA shoes, hence this is one of two game modes where respawning and overclocking are active. However, the fusion shields that protect the protonium reactor are disabled after 20 minutes. Due to the greater number of mechanics at play, many more strategies are available and teamwork is even more crucial for this game mode.

Team Deathmatch

Respawning is enabled the first team to get 25 kills between all of its players wins. These battles are relatively short with a 10-minute timer. This mode has no overclocking, fusion shields, or fusion towers. This game mode is currently only playable on the poop

Elimination

This is a 10v10 single death game mode. This mode has 2 ways to win, kill all of the enemy team or capture their base. Elimination is arguably the fastest game mode with matches sometimes taking only a few minutes. This game mode used to be called Team Death Match until that mode was revamped. It is currently (currently = as of Robocraft Beta Launch (29th of March 2017 at the time of writing)) available only through Brawls, so wether it can be played or not depends on the timing, the same also applies to The Pit game mode, which is too only available via Brawl.

The Pit

This is an all out free-for-all 10 Player brawl for robots. Respawning is enabled in this game mode. Unlike other battle types, The Pit has no end timer, instead, it ends when one player accumulates 20 points.

Challenge Battle

Main page: Challenge battle

4 higher tier bots VS 12 lower tier bots. To enter as a challenger, your robot has to be Tier 6 or higher. The low-tier bots will be two tiers beneath, randomly chosen from players of that tier queued up for Classic mode. There is a 4-hour cool-down time between challenger entries. To win the game as a challenger, you must either destroy all enemy bots or defend your base until the match timer runs out. As the low tier, win the game by destroying all of the challengers' bots or by capturing the enemy base before match timer runs out. This game mode is very challenging for both challenger team and the low tier team as it requires a great deal of teamwork.

Megaboss Battle

− Main page: Megaboss Battle

− 1 Tier TX-1 (Megabot) VS 15 tier 6 players - Currently, this game-mode is said to be broken (May-2015) as it is possible to fight against a full team of T10s. It has an 8-hour cooldown time, similarly to challenge battles.

Local Modes

Test Robot

A simple "Holo-level" that has no terrain textures. Instead, a graph-paper looking texture that one can test their robot in, providing a climbing wall for walker robots to climb, terrain features, targets, and even a jump.

Single Player

  • Single Player - Fight in a Team Death Match against AI-controlled bots from the CRF robot shop, of similar CPU to that of your robot. Bots here can be Laser, Plasma or Rail. This mode has the same rules as regular TDM but the enemy team and your team are composed of AI bots.

Future Modes

The Hub

This game mode will be an all out social server which allows friends to gather and show off bots and designs to others, everyone in this game mode is on the blue team so that they cannot harm one another. This game mode is planned for release as an extension of the new META.
